How will you give in 2024?

Dear OBC Family,

As we approach the end of 2023, we want to invite you to consider your giving for the new year.

Do you seek wisdom and pray as you make financial decisions for the year? If you have not already, we encourage you to prayerfully consider and “decide in your heart” (2 Cor 9:7) how you will steward what God has provided to you.

As a church, it is important that our ministry and stewardship flows from God’s grace. Giving is meant to be a grace-based joy, and not a law-based burden. Paul consistently teaches that giving must be an overflow of the heart as God has provided (1 Cor 16:2) and not a burden (2 Cor 8:13; 9:7). There is value to considering the tithe as an example and pattern, and yet we must ultimately look to the heart of giving as a joyful response to God’s great grace to us (2 Cor 8-9).

In this way, we encourage you to consider what joyful giving would look like in 2024. Giving is an act of worship, and it is an important and practical way that we link arms together for the sake of the Gospel.

Every year we develop a Ministry Investment Plan, which is more than a budget, but truly a plan for how we seek to invest and steward these funds for God’s kingdom. This is based upon the how the Lord has provided for the ministries of Occoquan Bible Church through the faithful gifts of our church family. Your gifts each year serve to shape our planning as we look ahead into the new year.

It is a joy to pray, give, and labor together in the work of the gospel—magnifying Christ from all the Scriptures, maturing saints for every good work, making disciples from all nations, and moving out to all places with the good news.

May we give joyfully, and may our giving be a pleasing and acceptable sacrifice of worship to our great God.

Blessings in Christ,
