Preparing for Sunday and Winter Snow
Several of our members have been attending the Founders’ Conference in Cape Coral, FL this week and we invite you to watch the conference livestream here. The conference will end at noon on Saturday.
In contrast to sunny Florida, our forecast at home in Virginia calls for significant snow beginning on Saturday evening and continuing through Sunday. The same Lord who calls us to assemble regularly to worship Him (Hebrews 10:25) is Lord over the snowfall, and as this storm approaches, I encourage you to read Job 37:5-13 and consider how winter weather displays God's glory.
If the forecast holds true, we anticipate that road conditions will require our building to be closed and we will be unable to gather for worship this Sunday. Should things be better than expected, we will let you know. We will continue to share inclement weather announcements by email, on obc.org, and in the Occoquan Bible Church app.
If we are snowbound and unable to gather for worship at OBC this Sunday, we invite you to watch the livestream of Grace Baptist Church in Cape Coral, FL. Pastor David Schrock will be the guest preacher at Tom Ascol’s church this Sunday, and the livestream of that worship service begins at 10:20am.
We are re-forming our Snow Removal Team. If you’re interested in serving, we will be helping those in our congregation who are physically unable to dig themselves out, as well as clearing and salting sidewalks at OBC. We invite you to sign-up to join our snow removal team here.
Storms like these are an opportunity to love and care for one another. We encourage you to check-in on members who live close to you, and as you’re able, take advantage of this snowstorm to share the love of Christ with your neighborhood.
As this weather approaches, we pray for you all, and we look forward to regathering for worship as the Lord allows.
Blessings in Christ,
Pastor Ben
